CAN-CORE Academic Video (McIntyre Media)

Do you know that we have a new license for the CAN-CORE Academic Video Collection, which is a curriculum content streaming platform designed for Canadian high schools, colleges and universities? All videos on this platform are 100% Canadian produced.

This collection provides access to thousands of segments and full programs on various subject areas, including Criminal Justice & Law, Agriculture, Education, First Nations Studies, Canadian Social Studies, and more.

Here are some popular titles.

“This documentary examines serious issues related to the globalization of superfoods, including unintended effects on food security, health, sustainable farming, and fair trade food practices.”

“In 1907 Dr. Peter H. Bryce, the Chief Medical Health officer for the Department of Indian Affairs wrote a report documenting the inhuman and unsanitary conditions in Canada’s residential schools.”

“Breaking Loneliness is a documentary about people finding ways to escape loneliness and social isolation. Loneliness is a social epidemic that is impacting all age groups around the world.”

You can search for the videos by keywords, browse the videos by subject areas, or select the filter “Indigenous content only” from the Search page. Many videos in this collection are produced by or are about Indigenous people.

You can also access the CAN-CORE Academic Video Collection through the Library Databases. Select the “Articles & Databases” tab from the Library’s homepage and click “Browse all research databases” to access the A-Z Databases.

You may link to the videos in this collection or post a copy in Blackboard. Please see the Permitted Uses for this Database for more information.
