RESOLVED - EBSCO Databases Down

Update, 4:08 pm.
The situation below has been resolved.

There is a service outage with our EBSCO vendor. This is affecting all our EBSCO research databases, our FIND IT Discovery Service, our Books & DVD's catalogue and the Journals List.

The vendor is aware of the problem and is working on it.

In the meantime, databases from vendors such as Gale and Proquest are still working. You can also search our Classic catalogue for our books and DVD titles.

    Downloading E-Books to Android Devices

    August 8, 2019 Update

EBSCO ebooks appear to be downloading now to Android devices if using Adobe Digital Editions in place of Bluefire Reader.

    July 30, 2019 Original Post

Most of our subscription e-books allow you to download the content onto your own device for 7 days. There have recently been problems downloading onto mobile Android devices.  Bluefire Reader has been pulled from the Google Play store.

Proquest has developed some interim procedures that can be used until a more permanent fix is in place.
This works well with books from Ebook Central.

EBSCO is still working to resolve the problems and have no solution to date. This affects books in their ebook Collection.

Please note: Downloading to computers and IOS devices have not been affected.

Problems with URL's in UFV Library Catalogue - RESOLVED

UPDATE: This problem has now been resolved.

We have discovered problems with  some URL links to ebooks, streaming videos, etc. in our UFV Library Catalogue. The links on the Item Information screen are not always connecting to the correct target.

The links from the brief hit list and the URL links under the Catalog Record tab seem to be connecting without any problems, so use these instead.  We will be working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please call the library if you are having any difficulties.
