ILL Articles Now Come Directly to Your Email Inbox

Something exciting happened over the summer, something that many of you have been asking for: the UFV Library implemented a new system that allows us to deliver articles from other libraries directly to your email inbox.

Now, when an article you requested via "Where can I get this?" or through our interlibrary loan forms arrives, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to retrieve it online; watch for a subject line like the following in your inbox:

Your Requested Article (PAT-10000001) is Available Online - See Instructions

If you've requested more than one article, and they arrive the same day, the email message may contain multiple links.

Please note that under Canadian copyright law, this digital copy may only be used to make a paper copy for the individual who requested it and this copy is to be used for the purpose of research or private study only.

You may also notice that some of the other messages regarding interlibrary loans are different; those, too, are a result of the new system.

Watch for changes as well in the "Where can I get this?" and interlibrary loan forms; we're working to reduce the amount of information you need to provide us when placing your request.

Got questions? Contact our interlibrary loans staff: (604) 864-4678 or ill@ufv.ca

A reminder: No food in the library

We want the library to be a great place to study, think and write; one that is clean and accessible. We don’t permit food in the library, and we ask that you make sure your drinks are covered to avoid spilling on the furniture, floors or books! Save your lunch or dinner to eat in the cafeteria or other areas on campus. We ask that you throw any cups or bottles into our recycling and/or garbage bins provided. If you are being disturbed by the aromas, noise or mess of food eaten by students near you, please tell a library employee at one of our service desks. We appreciate your cooperation and help in keeping our library clean.

Food for Fines: December 1-24

You donate the food - we'll pay your fines!

What?
The UFV Library collects food items for donation to local food banks, which provide food and assistance to people in need in our communities. As a thank you, we forgive a portion of your library fines. This year, the need is even greater.

Who?
Any UFV library patron (student, staff, faculty, alumni, community borrower) can “pay” library fines by bringing in donations for the Food Bank.

When?
December 1 – December 24, 2010

How?
Bring non-perishable food items into the Abbotsford, Chilliwack or Mission libraries. Please, no non-food items, such as candy.

How much?
Each donated food item is the equivalent of $2.00 toward your overdue fines, to a maximum of $20.00 per person.

Questions? Contact the UFV Library:
(604) 854-4545 Abbotsford
(604) 795-2824 Chilliwack
(604) 557-7609 Mission

P.S. All donations are welcome, even if you don’t have a fine.
