Returning library items

During this difficult time of campus closures, road closures, and extremely challenging weather, you may be concerned about returning your library items.

The book drops are open, so you can return items. Items that were checked out in Abbotsford can be returned to Chilliwack and vice versa. However, if it is not safe to do so, please consider the following options:

  • Self renew your items online using "My Library Account" on the library homepage
  • If you are out of recalls or need assistance, you can contact the library at circabb@ufv.ca to ask about renewing, as long as there isn't a recall on the item.
  • Wait and return items when it is safer to do so. We will be back dating returned items to Friday November 12th.

Announcing the Open Education Micro Grant Program

Recently funded through UFV’s Strategic Initiatives Fund, the UFV Library and Teaching and Learning Centre are excited to announce a new Open Education Micro Grant Program (OEMG) for 2021-22.  This program is designed to support faculty adapting and developing open education resources (OERs) that will be used in UFV courses and beyond.  Funding will be allocated to hire Open Education Student Assistants who will work under faculty mentorship to complete tasks that lead to the creation or adaptation of OE resources.  These tasks may include Pressbooks conversions, editing and revision, image and interactive item creation, formation of test banks, or other tasks.  Successful faculty project proposals will receive funding for 100-150 student hours ($2500 per project).  Our hope is that this fund will promote the increased use of OERs at UFV and build faculty capacity for OER development and adaptation.  The OEMG will also provide significant experiential value to student hires by allowing them to develop transferrable and knowledge specific skills that they can use in their programs and into their careers following graduation.  The formal Call for Proposals will be issued on 15 November 2021 with a closing date of 28 January 2022.  The funding period for successful applicants is April – August 2022. For more information on the Open Education Micro Grant program please contact Martin Warkentin or Claire Hay.
