Please join us on Thursday, November 17th in the Abbotsford campus library at 1pm for a lively presentation and discussion on the nature of creative writing. Dr Carl Peters, from the UFV English department, considers this question through a detailed reading of Gertrude Stein's Tender Buttons. He examines Stein's poetry and poetics in light of contemporary developments in painting, theatre and cinema.
Dr Peters' recently published Studies in description : reading Gertrude Stein's Tender Buttons (TalonBooks 2016) provides a parallel analysis of Stein's work. Jade Colbert writes "on the left page, Tender Buttons (the definitive, City Lights
edition) and on the right, Peters’s annotations. If you haven’t read the
main text before, I recommend doing that first. But remember: Go slow.” Colbert, Jade, Review: New books from Lynn Coady, Margaret Mackey and Carl Peters, Globe & Mail, Friday, June 10, 2016 Retrieved from http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/books-and-media/review-new-books-from-lynn-coady-margaret-mackey-and-carl-peters/article30385114/
