Mission Campus Library Services

The UFV Library will  provide service to Mission students in a variety of ways. 

Circulation Services

Books, journals, videos, and other library items are available to borrow from the Abbotsford and Chilliwack campus libraries.  Students can search the UFV Library Catalogue for items, and then place a hold with the preferred pickup location. Students will have the option to have items held for them in Abbotsford or Chilliwack, or to have materials transferred by courier to the Mission campus registration office for pickup. They will be able to return items to the book return bin located on the Mission campus.

Reference Services

Students may contact the library by phone or e-mail, or use the Askaway chat reference service.

Instruction

Librarians will continue to provide instructional sessions for Mission classes.

Interlibrary Loans

Journal articles will be delivered electronically via email. Students will have the option to have books and videos held for them in Abbotsford or Chilliwack, or to have materials transferred by courier to the Mission campus registration office for pickup.

Research Databases and Online Collections

UFV Library research databases, e-books, and online journals will continue to be available from all campuses as well as off-campus.

Course Reserves

Library staff will work with faculty to create electronic reading lists wherever possible.

Now You Can Book Group Study Rooms Online

Over the summer, the library transitioned from a paper to an online system for booking group study rooms! You can book both Chilliwack and Abbotsford library group study rooms this way. All the same rules apply. Log in using your student ID and password. Simple.

Usual Hours on Wednesday

UFV will be marking the Indian Residential School Day of Learning on Wednesday, September 18th. The libraries will be open as usual. The Chilliwack and Abbotsford libraries both have several displays in place to mark this event. Stop by and check them out this week!

Access to SpringerLink Restored

Were you having difficulty accessing SpringerLink materials? Springer has repaired the problem and access has been be restored. However if you continue to experience difficulty, please report it to refabby@ufv.ca

Group Study Room Online Booking is Here

Students at both the Chilliwack and Abbotsford campuses can now use an online booking system (linked from the library homepage) to book the group study rooms located in the library. The Book a Group Study Room link provides access to the booking system and includes helpful information about using and booking the rooms.

Recarpeting project in July

Installed in 1995, the Abbotsford campus library carpet has seen better days. This summer the main floor of the library will be re-carpeted, commencing on July 8th, 2013. The work will take approximately one month to complete, and will involve sections of the library being worked on each day. We apologize for any disruption this may cause, and will try to alert you to any planned closures of areas as they arise. We look forward to a new, refreshed look for the fall!

Day 1 - Furniture is moved out of the way

Day 1 -  The floor needs lots of repair

Day 2 - We have some carpet down now and it looks great!

Day 8 - The computer stations have been disconnected and the new carpet tiles are being installed in the front of the library.

Day 10 - They are finished! The new carpet looks great with our study tables.
